There is something particular about Dartmoor. The light. The way the moor holds you. The sense that the land here is older and more patient than anything you might bring to it.
High Heathercombe sits within six acres of this ancient landscape, tucked between woodland and open moorland in Devon. It is a place run as a Community Interest Company, on a charitable basis, guided by the Permaculture ethics of Earth Care, People Care and Fair Shares. Simple principles, but ones that have a way of changing how you spend a day.
Groups come here for retreats, courses and gatherings. For nature connection and creative work. For education in sustainability and for the kind of quiet that allows something new to arise. The Forest Room with its log burner, the far-reaching views across the Heathercombe valley, the wildlife-rich grounds: these are not amenities. They are teachers.
Heathercombe is particularly committed to accessibility, welcoming young people, those with disabilities or particular needs, and people who are socially or economically disadvantaged. The land, they believe, should be available to everyone whose spirit might benefit from it.
